Exhibition: Repetition Studies

March 2023

Thread on canvas, thread on drywall

Repetition. Negative patterns can develop in life by repeating the same thing and expecting a different result, which is the definition of insanity. At times, these patterns become so tight that it often feels like life may snap and unravel. While trying to express this perspective, I found my solution in the thread. Thread work is ritual, repetitive behavior systematically used to neutralize or prevent anxiety. The result is unique. With a different path, a new color interaction, or a new shape. The work changes; the color shifts and contrast of fragility and strength evolves, much like my own evolution of self. Thread work is my repetitive ritual.
